About the Department
Ward 32 has a varied and exciting clinical focus across several different areas:
- HANU (High Acuity Nursing)
- Cardiac Telemetry monitoring
- Respiratory care
- Post thoracic surgical care
Our patient cohort consists of acutely unwell patients requiring high-quality patient-centred care.
About the Role
Ward 32 at Monash Medical Centre is a dynamic, supportive and clinically diverse ward where no two days are the same.
- Care for a diverse and complex patient cohort in a supportive learning environment.
- Dedicated High Acuity Nursing Unit (HANU) with exposure to complex clinical presentations including DKA, refeeding, anti-arrhythmics, tracheostomies and infusions.
- Develop respiratory nursing skills caring for patients with COPD, CF, asthma and lung cancer, including non-invasive ventilation.
- Gain experience in telemetry monitoring and caring for post-thoracic surgical patients, including pneumothorax and lobectomy.
- Develop strong skills in managing tubes, drains and pleural infusions.
- Work alongside a passionate Nurse Manager, experienced Education Team and large multidisciplinary team.
- Be supported to continually build your clinical knowledge and progress your nursing career.
About You
You are an experienced Registered Nurse with a keen interest in High Acuity Nursing, and you are looking to be part of a ward where you will receive the support to build your skills in this area of nursing. You demonstrate sound clinical judgement and can confidently manage a deteriorating patient when you need, and time management is one of your strengths. Working as part of a large multidisciplinary team, you are a nurse who communicates confidently and clearly and you are an advocate for your patients at all times.

What you need:
- Recent RN experience, ideally in an acute setting
- HANU and/or Respiratory experience is highly regarded, but if you are looking to gain this, we are the place to be!
- Committed to delivering patient-centred care & a patient advocacy
- Commitment to ongoing learning and to upholding the Monash Health values
- Excited to be accountable for and manage specific portfolios in our relentless pursuit of excellence
