Our Journey
The Melbourne Children’s Sleep Centre provides an inpatient sleep study service, an outpatient home oximetry service, a non-invasive ventilation service and an apnoea monitoring service. The sleep study service performs over 1,400 sleep studies on paediatric patients each year.
The Melbourne Children’s Sleep Centre is staffed by consultant sleep and respiratory paediatricians, sleep scientists and nurses experienced in the diagnosis and management of all paediatric sleep disorders. We play a key role in providing excellent patient care - monitoring paediatric patients attending for assessment of sleep disorders and adequacy of treatments.
About the Role
Monash Health is excited to announce ongoing and temporary, part time Paediatric Sleep Scientist and/ or Paediatric Sleep Nursing positions available in the Melbourne Children’s Sleep Centre, Clayton!
- Permanent - 18 hours per fortnight (4 set-ups)
- Fixed Term (15th Nov 2026) – 13.5 hours per fortnight (3 set-ups)
- Fixed Term (21st Feb 2027) – 9 hours per fortnight (2 set-ups)

A Day in the Life
The Melbourne Children’s Sleep Centre operates Monday to Friday evenings, with a set roster based on a fortnightly template.
Evening set-up shifts are from 6.15pm – 10.45pm (4.5 hrs), and duties involve the application of sensors and beginning recording for continuous overnight monitoring of paediatric patients undergoing overnight sleep studies.
About You
- You are a Medical Scientist or Registered Nurse who is adept at working with varied monitoring equipment and software systems.
- You thrive working in a dynamic team and are truly passionate about delivering a high standard of evidence-based care to all patients.
- You are an advocate of Monash Health’s Strategic Guiding Principles.

What you need
- Relevant qualifications (Science Degree/Nursing Degree/equivalent)
Note: Training in paediatric sleep will be provided as required.
