About the Role 

As a Registered Nurse within our Rehabilitation and GEM unit, Ward H, you will play a crucial role in the care and support of our aged and rehabilitation patients. You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team and other healthcare professionals to provide exceptional care to our patients. You’ll enjoy the variety and challenge that comes from working with other Nursing team members and Allied Health team members while being supported by others across the program and across our large, complex health service.  

We work within a team model of care and in practicing within this model, we provide our patients and their families, a consistency in their care provision and clear communication across their journey. We offer the opportunity to complete a Post Graduate Certificate in Medical Surgical Nursing.

Join our team as a Registered Nurse! We currently have a Part Time (.8EFT - 64 hours per fortnight) 12 month Fixed Term Maternity Leave (until May 2027) replacement position available. We are located at Casey Hospital based in Berwick working a rotational 24/7 roster.

About Us 

At Casey Hospital, Ward H is a 30 bed Rehabilitation and Geriatric Medicine, with a reputation for delivering outstanding patient centred care.

Ward H is a 30 bedded Rehabilitation and GEM unit and we are located on the ground floor at Casey Hospital.  We work closely as a multidisciplinary team which includes allied health and medical teams to support patients to return home, go into aged care or supported disability accommodation.  Common patient admissions include but not limited to:

  • Stroke
  • Fractures post falls
  • Functional decline
  • Reconditioning post CA diagnosis / treatment
  • Rehabilitation post-surgery e.g. craniotomy, hip and knee replacements, abdominal resections, amputations
  • Delirium
  • Rehabilitation post procedures: Tracheostomy/ Laryngectomy

You’ll also have the unique opportunity to work towards undertaking Team Leader shifts. If you have an interest in leadership, you’ll be given the opportunity to supervise other members of the team and to develop your leadership skills in a structured and supportive environment with pathways and education available to make your Leadership goals a reality.

About You 

You have been developing your clinical skills as a Registered Nurse and growing your career, showing your commitment and passion for Patient Centred Care. To ensure your success in this role, you will have following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge:  

  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia to practice independently as a Registered Nurse, essential
  • Demonstrated clinical experience in Acute medical or Rehabilitation unit, essential
  • Outstanding communication and time management skills coupled with delivering holistic patient centred care  
  • Flexibility and commitment to the operational needs of the program
