About the Role
The Registered Nurse/Midwife – Aboriginal Cultural Support role is a supernumerary (non-clinical caseload) position focused on embedding Aboriginal cultural knowledge and practices within care settings. Working under the supervision and delegation of the manager, you will:

Provide cultural guidance and support to nurses and midwives.

Contribute to creating culturally safe environments for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Nursing and Midwifery employees.

Advocate for culturally safe partnerships and promote Monash Health’s Reconciliation Action Plan and Aboriginal Health Strategy.

Fostering meaningful relationships with the Aboriginal Health and Engagement Team
This role provides valuable exposure to workforce planning and program coordination, including supporting onboarding and orientation activities for graduates, RUSON/Ms, and Aboriginal Cadets. You will gain insight into scheduling and rotation logistics while developing leadership skills and cultural advocacy capability
About You
To be eligible for the position candidates must:

Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander (Genuine Occupational Requirement under Section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic)).

Have a minimum of 3 years of nursing/midwifery experience
-
Demonstrate a strong understanding of Aboriginal health issues and cultural safety principles.

Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to advocate effectively and sensitively
