About Us
Join our team on the Secure Extended Care Unit as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse in a full time or part time ongoing role
The Secure Extended Care Unit (Unit 4) is a 50 bed Inpatient Unit based at Dandenong Hospital. SECUs provide medium to long-term inpatient treatment and rehabilitation for people who have unremitting and severe symptoms of mental illness or disorder with an associated significant disturbance in behaviour that preclude their living in a less restricted environment. SECU has a recovery-based model of care. It provides mental health service to patients identified as needing a longer stay in a bed based service to support extensive treatment, assessment, formulation and management recommendations.
Our collaborative multi-disciplinary team made up of: Social workers; Occupational Therapists; Clinical and Neuro Psychologist; Exercise Physiologist; Dietician; Music Therapist; Psychiatrists and Nurses provides targeted treatment and rehabilitation programs that maximise individual functioning, minimise the barriers to recovery, and promote return to community living
About the Role
No two days will be the same, and this is what is challenging and exciting about coming into work within our skilled nursing workforce.
Our Registered nurses are passionate about Psychiatry which is why they became Mental Health Nurses in the first place. They love coming to work every day to be able to provide goal orientated holistic, patient centred care for our consumers. They work on recovery, providing consistent care that is centred around each individual and their needs, instilling hope into their journey. You’ll enjoy the variety and challenge that comes from working with likeminded skilled senior staff and clinical mentors, while being supported by others across the program and across our large, complex health service.
We are a collaborative service and we encourage opportunities to grow your career and work in a team to ensure this consistency across our consumers journey, which doesn’t end at discharge.
We have full time and part time opportunities across a 24/7 rotational roster. Ours is a highly connected team with strong shared values and a commitment to excellence
