This role is for a Registered Nurse (with Post Graduate qualification in Mental Health) Grade 2, Year 2- Year 8 in a permanent capacity with various EFT options.
The PIIU provides mental health interventions to mothers and their infants who present with acute and severe mental health conditions, associated high risk factors and may have subsequent challenges with the dyadic relationship. Women in the antenatal period can also be referred.
About the Role
The Grade 2 Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) position is a clinical role responsible for clinical outcomes under the direction of the ANM and Nurse Manager.
The Registered Psychiatric Nurse is committed to teamwork, respect and collaborates to provide excellent and accountable high quality, recovery orientated nursing practice and service delivery for all patients, their infants and their families/carers.
The Registered Nurse supports, supervise, mentor and coach the mental health ENs, in delivering support and holistic nursing care to patients and families during crisis and transition periods of their mental illness, considering the persons, physical, psychological, social, spiritual and cultural needs.

- You are motivated to support, supervise, mentor and coach the nursing workforce within the PIIU and role model nursing excellence
- You promote a culture of optimism, innovation, encouragement, learning and creativity and take direction and guidance from senior nurses within the PIIU team
What You Need
- Registered with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia via AHPRA
- Registered Nurse who has obtained a sole qualification in Mental Health Nursing (has completed a specialist undergraduate psychiatric nursing program or Bachelor of Mental Health Nursing)
OR
- Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Nursing qualification and had an academic post graduate qualification in mental nursing qualification (minimum Certificate level)
OR
- Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Nursing who is working towards obtaining an academic post graduate mental health nursing qualification and has 12 months fulltime acute Mental Health Nursing experience.
OR
- Registered Nurse who has successfully completed a Mental Health Nursing Graduate Program (minimum program duration - 12 months)
OR
- 12 months fulltime, experience in acute adult psychiatric inpatient units and has the relevant and appropriate competencies and skills within the scope required for a Mental Health Nurse
