About Us - Monash Children’s Clinical Trials Centre 

Monash Children’s Clinical Trials Centre actively leads and participates in multicentre clinical trials and observational studies. The unit coordinates research in various therapeutic areas. 

Are you a Registered Nurse with a passion for advancing paediatric care through clinical research? Monash Kids Research is seeking a dedicated Research Nurse to join our team and play a key role in the coordination and delivery of clinical trials that make a difference in the lives of children and families. 

We are looking for passionate and dedicated individuals to join our research team. We have multiple position options available, including a secondment opportunity. 
 
 

About the Role 

As a Research Nurse (Level 2) you will be responsible for the management and conduct of clinical trials. You will contribute to the successful conduct of paediatric clinical trials within the Monash Kids Research unit. You’ll work alongside a multidisciplinary team, providing high-quality, ethical, and compliant care and data collection in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines and national ethical standards. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand and implement clinical trial protocols and requirements for allocated studies. 

  • Assist with trial set-up, recruitment, assessments, and follow-up of participants. 

  • Support non-clinical coordinators with clinical components of assigned studies. 

  • Maintain the resuscitation cart and ensure readiness for emergency use. 

  • Ensure all research activity aligns with legal, ethical, and scientific standards, including TGA and NHMRC guidelines. 

  • Contribute to the preparation and presentation of study progress reports. 

  • Liaise effectively with internal stakeholders such as trial investigators, clinical trial units, and pharmacy, pathology, and radiology departments. 

  • Coordinate with external partners including pharmaceutical companies, CROs, and general practitioners. 

  • Occasionally work outside of standard business hours for specific trial procedures such as pharmacokinetic sampling. 

 

About You 

You are a collaborative and detail-oriented nurse with a strong interest in clinical research. You will have demonstrable experience in working collaboratively with key agencies, within the scope of relevant legislation and professional guidelines and are an excellent communicator, able to work independently and contribute to a resilient team. You have experience in the development and review of standard operating protocols, liaising with external agencies, participating in patient recruitment and adverse event reporting (as required) in consultation with the management team. In addition to this, you will also have:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse. 

  • Experience in clinical trials or research coordination. 

  • Sound knowledge of GCP and clinical research ethics. 

  • Familiarity with research governance and regulatory requirements. 

  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. 

  • Attention to detail skill and be able to rigorously adhere to relevant documentation standards  

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with external research organisations, sites and stakeholders  

  • Demonstrate ability to work independently as well as consulting and collaborating with others to deliver outcomes   

  • Be outcome focused with ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously
