  • Part Time (0.4 - 0.6EFT), Fixed Term (12 months) 

 

We seek to fill a position in research support and coordination to enable implementation and evaluation of a leading research program focused on delivering improvements in women’s health during pregnancy through research and translation within Monash Health antenatal care services, which collectively provides care to over 10,000 women every year across Victoria.  Working collaboratively with clinicians, researchers, and other stakeholders, this position will contribute to the coordination and integration of the intervention into the health system, addressing real-world healthcare needs and optimising outcomes.


Working with a project team, the Research Officer will provide a vital supportive role across ethics coordination, project coordination, stakeholder engagement, health coaching and health system implementation. Data collection via quantitative and qualitative methods is also integral to this role, requiring an experienced, efficient and effective researcher to achieve this.  This research program is focused on optimising patient health outcomes and as such a background in Dietetics and/or Nutrition is highly desired. 
The Research Officer will develop and implement research processes across MCHRI to support the achievement of MCHRI strategic objectives and enhance our position as a leading Centre for collaboration and research translation. 

 

About Monash Centre for Health Research and Implementation (MCHRI), School of Public Health, Monash University and Monash Health
MCHRI sits under the Facility of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Monash University. Established in 2005, MCHRI has grown from 3 to 180 staff and students. This is a partnership centre across Monash University and Monash Health and provides an implementation laboratory for research and translation embedded and integrated into healthcare. MCHRI works with broader reach across Monash Partners Academic Health Science Centre, nationally and internationally in our research and translation endeavours. Our vision is to create, synthesise, implement and translate clinical, health care and public health knowledge, underpinned by cross sector end user engagement, to deliver health impact. MCHRI has led organisational and individual leadership support programs in healthcare for nearly a decade.

About the Role
The Research Officer Key result areas:
•    Coordinate operational aspects of the research program including stakeholder communication, participant management, data collection, collation and management and integration of databases.
•    Assist in the delivery of the intervention, including nutrition content creation and dietitian focused health coaching aimed at optimising health during pregnancy.
•    Developing project plans, timelines, and operational documentation, ensuring adherence to study protocols, GCP, and institutional policies.
•    Monitoring project progress, identifying risks, and implementing mitigation strategies.
•    Manage ethics amendments and submissions in line with project requirements.

•    Conduct research aligned with the research program objectives across knowledge to action, including formative research, user-testing, trial implementation with a focus on nutrition and dietetics.
•    Support participant coordination at scale across Monash Health antenatal services.
•    Produce and/or contribute to peer-reviewed publications, and project reports based on study findings.
•    Create promotional materials to enhance user engagement during the implementation.
•    Contribute to the ongoing evaluation of the research program.
•    Collaborate with Monash Health clinicians, midwives, and allied health professionals to facilitate intervention delivery and research activities.
•    Foster and maintain relationships with project partners, consumer groups, and collaborators to ensure alignment and engagement.
•    Develop in-service materials and deliver staff training to embed the intervention into routine antenatal care.
•    Comply with Monash Health and Monash University policy, procedure and protocols relevant to the undertaking research.
•    Other research and administrative duties as directed by Head of Public Health Research Stream.

 

About You
•    A University qualification in nutrition and/or dietetics. An alternative allied health qualification (e.g. exercise physiology, public health, physiotherapy or equivalent) will also be considered.
•    Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience in quantitative and qualitative research methods and data analysis. 
•    Experience in project coordination highly desired
•    Demonstrated ability in academic writing and manuscript production.
•    Demonstrated experience working in a research or professional environment to optimise the health outcomes of participants and/or patients.
•    Demonstrated ability to work directly with research participants in a supportive, evidence-based manner to improve health outcomes.
•    Demonstrated experience in project coordination and use of research data research data across different platforms including REDCap, statistical analysis software (e.g. STATA, SPSS), and survey platforms (Qualtrics) desirable.
•    Excellent understanding of the principles, complexities and issues around research including but not limited to confidentiality, privacy and information handling.
•    Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills, including academic writing and manuscript production.
