About the Role: 

Join our team as a Research Officer on a part time (20 hours per week), fixed term (end date 6/04/2027).

The Monash Health Plastic Surgery Unit is seeking a Research Officer to support the coordination and delivery of its clinical and translational research program across reconstructive plastic surgery subspecialties including paediatrics, microsurgery, peripheral nerve, head and neck, breast and skin oncology. This role is pivotal to the continued expansion of our research output, student supervision, and interdepartmental collaborations.

  • Coordinate research meetings
  • Coordinate ethics submissions and site-specific governance applications.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of research studies including participant recruitment and consent.
  • Develop and maintain REDCap databases, project trackers, and file systems.
  • Oversee research compliance and documentation according to GCP and Monash Health standards.
  • Contribute to regular progress reporting and team communications.

You may be required to travel between sites

The Monash Health Plastic Surgery Unit is Australia’s largest and most comprehensive reconstructive surgery service. We perform high volumes of complex procedures across adult and paediatric hospitals and maintain an active research agenda integrated into clinical care. Our research supports surgical innovation, patient-centred outcomes, and the next generation of clinician-scientists.

 

About You:  

To ensure your success in this role you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge: 

•    Experience in health research environments; surgical research experience preferred.
•    Evidence of contributions to peer-reviewed publications or formal research outputs.

Mandatory requirements of the role - qualifications, licences, memberships,  

  • Honours, Master’s or PhD qualification in Health Sciences, Public Health, Allied Health, Biomedical Sciences, or related field.

 The Research Officer will coordinate ethics and governance applications, manage research workflows, facilitate multidisciplinary engagement, and assist in data collection, analysis, and dissemination. This role will directly support the Head of Research and interface with surgical, allied health, and academic teams to ensure alignment with Monash Health’s research objectives.
