The Monash Health Pharmacy Department is seeking outstanding Pharmacists to further develop their pharmacy skills and career within the supported environment of the Monash Health network.
- Grade 1 Pharmacist – Pharmacist Award Classification SW5- SW10
- Permanent full time
- Start date prior to residency for orientation and training as soon as possible
- Resident Training Program to commence in March 2025 and completed by March 2027
- 4 x 6 month rotations (surgical, medical, operational and elective) as part of the Resident Training Program
- After completion of the Resident Training Program, continue as rotational pharmacist with opportunities to commence an Registrar Training Program

About the Role
We are seeking eight early career or new to hospital pharmacists to join our team and participate in our Advanced Pharmacy Australia (AdPha) accredited, Resident Training Program. There is an opportunity to join the pharmacy team prior to the commencement of the resident training program in March 2025 for orientation and training. Current 2024 pharmacy interns are also encouraged to apply.
The Resident candidates are supported by an enthusiastic Pharmacy Education Team and will be assigned dedicated preceptors for each rotation. Together, the resident candidates and preceptor will complete Mini Clinical Evaluation Exercises (mini CEX’s), case based discussions and AdPha Clinical Competency Achievement Tool (ClinCAT) evaluations amongst other activities, which will help guide the resident’s development and learning over the 2 year resident training program. The resident candidate will develop research experience and skills through developing and leading a research project with supervisor(s) support.
The key purpose of this role is to:
- Participate in a structured, formalised, supported and accredited national two-year resident training program
- Work effectively in a pharmacy team providing pharmacy services in a variety of settings
- Provide medicines and medication advice safely and professionally to a variety of clients.
Weekends, late shifts and public holiday’s overtime work will be required.
After completion of the 2 year resident training program, you will continue as part of the team of rotational pharmacists with opportunities to commence Registrar Training Programs across a range of specialties.
Day in the Life:
- Support and work alongside your team members to provide a consistently safe, high quality, efficient and effective pharmacy service
- Provide clinical and operational pharmacy services in a safe and professional manner to Monash Health patients, clients and carers
- Complete all required resident training program activities to a high standard, including a research project, within the 2 year resident training program.
- Work across all Monash Health sites

About You
Essential
- Current registration as a pharmacist with AHPRA at commencement of employment
- Ability to work effectively in interprofessional teams
- Well-developed time management and excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Commitment to continued professional development and education
- Has a positive “can-do” attitude and displays initiative and reliability.
Desirable
- Relevant post graduate qualifications (completed or in progress)
- Previous experience in a hospital environment
- Established clinical pharmacy practice skills and experience
