About Monash Health Pathology Service
Alfred Health and Monash Health have established a formal partnership to deliver a Shared Pathology Service as one of three new pathology networks for metropolitan Melbourne. All roles in the Pathology Programs are working to develop the Partnership and ensure we continue to provide high quality care for the patients across the health services. Monash Health Pathology is an integral part of Monash Health. It is the largest public provider of Pathology services in the state and currently operates 6 laboratories. The largest of these is located at the Monash Medical Centre, Clayton, with additional laboratories located at the Dandenong, Moorabbin, Casey, Victorian Heart Hospital and Wonthaggi Hospitals. There are currently 18 collection locations based within the hospital sites and community settings. Services are provided to the Public and Private sectors, and other laboratory services.

 

About the Role
To lead, manage and direct the laboratory, with responsibility for the distribution of work and staff, the efficient and accurate performance of tests and the guidance, training and education of staff within the laboratory. The appointee is expected to show leadership and a high level of professional competence.  The appointee is also expected to participate in the performance of routine and specialized testing as performed in the laboratory.

 

Key result areas:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day and long term functions including excellence in teaching, research and
  • professional activities.
  • Provides supervision and leadership within the laboratory.
  • Ensures that internal and external customer requirements regarding availability, reliability, security,
  • performance and accessibility are satisfactorily delivered.
  • Prioritises the activities of staff, ensuring that service delivery and system enhancements are satisfied or
  • completed in a timely manner.
  • Implement approved new services, standard of care testing, and develop capacity using new technologies.
  • In conjunction with Pathology Leadership, ascertain priorities and develop and implement strategies for innovation and advancement in service delivery.
