About Monash Health Nephrology

Monash Health is the quaternary provider of Nephrology Services in the south east corridor of metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria. Services include chronic kidney disease prevention and management, kidney and kidney-pancreas transplantation, a full suite of extracorporeal and peritoneal dialysis kidney replacement therapies, supportive care and comprehensive Nephrology research, education and training programs

Monash Health provides a dialysis service under a hub and spoke (satellite) model with the hub service located at Monash Health Clayton Campus. Dialysis services are designed and located to support a range of patient dialysis needs including inpatient, home and satellite dialysis.  Under the DHHS Vic Renal Capability Framework 2019, Monash Health is a level 6 Hub provider with governance and support system responsibilities for its regional and rural dialysis partners.

The Dialysis Service Technician is an integral member of the Monash Health Dialysis Technical Services Department and forms part of a multidisciplinary team that is the Department of Nephrology.

They ensure the ongoing provision of dialysis services to over 700 home and hospital-based patients, located across southeast Melbourne, Greater Melbourne and regional Victoria.

The Monash Dialysis Technical Services team promotes the installation, maintenance and safety performance of all dialysis equipment at all Monash Health sites. This will include the provision of planned and unplanned repairs/maintenance and calibration of all Monash Health dialysis equipment located throughout Victoria

 

About You

  • Special knowledge or depth of experience working in both hospital facility treatment areas and patients’ homes.
  • Ability to perform, without direct supervision, a wide range of diagnostic tests or procedures, and / or work which requires specialised knowledge or depth of experience.
  • Already achieved a high level of performance and shown a commitment to further professional development.
  • Demonstrated experience and competence in the performance and understanding of a wide range of diagnostic tests and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate and develop new diagnostic procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to critically assess and evaluate new equipment, instruments or products relevant to diagnostic work.
  • Demonstrated understanding of dialysis concepts and practices, and water treatment relating to dialysis.
  • Experience in being part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to work confidently alone and unsupervised, yet call for assistance when required.
  • Knowledge of standards and guidelines relating to water quality for dialysis and electrical safety.
  • Information technology proficiency.

What You Need:

  • Bachelor Degree in Science or Applied Science or relevant extensive experience in dialysis technical services.
  • Eligible for full membership of an appropriate professional association.
  • Current driver’s licence including the ability to drive a large commercial van.
  • Flexibility to work in multiple locations including home enviroments
  • Ability to work on call rostering
