About Us
You will be joining Monash Health at an exciting time as we work in partnership with Alfred Health to be the premier shared public pathology service in Victoria. As a member of the pathology team you will be helping shape the direction of the partnership.
Monash Health Pathology is an integral part of Monash Health. It is the largest public provider of Pathology services in the state and currently operates 6 laboratories. The largest of these is located at the Monash Medical Centre, Clayton, with additional laboratories located at the Dandenong, Moorabbin, Casey, Victorian Heart Hospital and Wonthaggi Hospitals. There are currently 22 collection locations based within the hospital sites and community settings. Services are provided to the Public and Private sectors, and other laboratory services.
About the Role
- We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Medical Scientist with relevant core laboratory training in Haematology, Chemical Pathology and Transfusion. Morphology training is desirable. The successful applicant will join the existing pool of Medical Scientists and Laboratory Technicians within the VHH and will report to the Pathology Site Manager
- Rostering flexibility is required as the laboratory offers a 24 hour service and the successful applicant will be required to work the required shifts and additionally being on call
- The shifts times are: 0630-1500, 0800-1630, 0930-18:00, 1430-2300, 2230-0700.
- This is a casual position
- Attention to detail with good interpretation skills in reviewing internal QC, troubleshooting and good communication is required
- Instrumentation includes Beckman Coulter DxC700 AU, DxH690, Access 2, Radiometer ABL90, Werfen ACLTOP 350, Ortho Swift. Previous experience in these analysers is highly desirable.
What you need to know
The successful applicant will have a Degree in Applied Science (MLS) or recognised equivalent with experience in a multi-disciplinary laboratory
As per the Technical Advisoty group on Immunisation Group on immunisation (ATAG) and the Australian Immunisation Handbook, healthcare workers are strongly recommended to remain up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations.
