About Us
The Medical Oncology Unit at Monash Health is one of the largest and most dynamic units in Australia providing cancer care to a catchment population of 1.3 million in South East Victoria. In conjunction with Haematology and Palliative care, the Oncology Unit is part of the Cancer Program within Monash Health. It comprises inpatient, outpatient and ambulatory cancer treatment services as well as an extensive clinical trials portfolio to provide comprehensive cancer care in all tumour streams at the Moorabbin, Clayton and Berwick sites.

We provide an evidence-based multidisciplinary model of care for patients with all solid organ malignancies as well as access to clinical trials of all phases.
Services are provided at Moorabbin Hospital (inpatient, outpatient and chemotherapy day unit), Dandenong Hospital (inpatient consults), Berwick – Specialty Consulting clinics as well as Monash Medical Centre Clayton (inpatients and outpatients) and clinical trials at the Clinical Trials Centre (Monash Health Translational Precinct – MHTP).
We work closely with our partners in the region including Monash Partners Comprehensive Cancer Consortium (MPCCC), Southern Melbourne Integrated Cancer Service (SMICS) and South East Melbourne Primary Care Network (SEMPHN).
Monash Oncology is seeking a Senior Administrative Assistant to join our team on a fixed-term (12 months) contract, part-time (2 days per week), and based at Moorabbin Hospital.
About the Role
This position is responsible for ensuring Monash Oncology service delivery, through coordination of a large complex roster management across all Monash Health sites.
The Senior Administrative Assistant will also be responsible for supporting the Administrative team, Director and Deputy Director of Oncology and Oncology departmental staff including Monash Oncology Research. Furthermore, this position supports the daily activities, planning & future developments & growth of the Monash Health Oncology unit through all aspects of coordination of unit administration.
Role Details:

Permanent Part Time Position – 34 hours a fortnight (0.4 EFT).
- Shifts include Tuesday and Wednesday, with potential for extension
Qualifications:
- Administrative qualification or working towards is highly desirable
Technical skills/knowledge/experience
- Demonstrated administrative experience
- Experience in coordinating a significant service that requires operational management
- Provide a high degree of efficiency to manage a large amount of complex rostering always ensuring no clinical risks
- Ensure all sensitive matters/issues relating to staff, patients & visitors are actioned accordingly
- Use a high degree of technical understanding of the Oncology service & the service it provides our patients
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to be an effective member of the Monash Oncology team, support colleagues in the achievement of organisational and departmental objectives.
- Ability to effectively engage with multi-disciplinary teams
- Cultivates relationships that sustain a positive and productive inter-professional working environment.
- Experienced in arranging travel bookings, scheduling appointments and function planning
- Advanced knowledge in computer software applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, iPM)
- Demonstrated leadership skills, strong customer focus, clinical and business ethics and commitment to maximising potential of staff
- Organisation skills with the ability to prioritise daily tasks effectively, while maintaining accuracy and quality
