About the Role

We have a Senior Behavioural Clinician position available on the Oasis Child Unit!

The Oasis Unit provides specialist assessment and care planning for children aged up to 12 years, with neurodevelopmental disorders (such as Autism Spectrum Disorder or Intellectual Disability) and/or who show severe or complex psychiatric, behavioural and developmental symptoms that indicate need for a short term inpatient service. A range of consultation services, brief emergency admissions, and planned assessment admissions are provided.

The focus of the position is to facilitate the embedding of complex behavioural management into all aspects of the Oasis Model of Care. The Oasis Behavioural Clinician works within the multi-disciplinary team to provide behavioural assessment and interventions to children and families during their inpatient stay. The Oasis Behavioural Clinician will contribute to the joint formulation and treatment planning for children admitted to the unit. They will draw on behavioural knowledge and skills and be familiar with current and emerging evidence-based practices for children with neurodevelopmental and psychiatric difficulties, and their families. The Oasis Behavioural Clinician will also contribute their skills and knowledge through individually targeted interventions and the group program. The role includes collaboration with and consultation to families, schools, CYMHS and community based service providers. The Oasis Behavioural Clinician will have a leading role in educating staff in behavioural approaches that are tailored to the needs of children and families during their inpatient stay. They will contribute to research and evaluation projects.

 

About You:

  • Advanced knowledge and skills in providing evidence-based behavioural assessment, analysis, and support.
  • Advanced knowledge and/or experience in providing behavioural assessment and support to young people with complex mental health presentations and co-occuring neurodivergence and their family/carers. 
  • Experience in conducting behavioural analysis, completing behaviour support plans, and providing psychoeducation around behaviour management and support.
  • Experience providing secondary consultation  
  • Experience supporting the development of skills in others 

The incumbent will have experience in a mental health service and/or extensive experience in a relevant area of practice.
