Senior Consultant, Leadership and Organisational Effectiveness

Culture & Experience | Monash Health

Lead the leaders who shape healthcare.

At Monash Health, we believe leadership is one of the strongest determinants of organisational performance, culture and patient outcomes. Not leadership in theory. Leadership in practice.

We're seeking an experienced Senior Consultant, Leadership and Organisational Effectiveness to work directly with leaders across one of Australia's largest health services, helping them strengthen leadership capability, improve team effectiveness and build the judgement required to lead confidently through complexity, accountability and change.

This is not a traditional leadership development role.

You won't spend your time delivering generic training programs or running workshops disconnected from day-to-day realities. Instead, you'll partner with leaders facing real organisational challenges, helping them shift from managing issues to leading people. You'll work alongside leaders to strengthen decision-making, improve team performance, navigate difficult conversations and build the capability required to create sustainable organisational outcomes.

This role sits at the intersection of leadership, organisational effectiveness and culture, supporting leaders to create environments where people perform, collaborate and thrive.

About the role

Reporting to the Director, Culture and Experience, you'll partner with leaders across clinical, operational and corporate settings to strengthen leadership capability, organisational performance and team effectiveness.

You'll work with leaders to:

    • Build confidence and capability to lead complex people and performance challenges
    • Strengthen leadership judgement and accountability
    • Shift managers from operational problem-solvers to strategic people leaders
    • Create high-performing, engaged and accountable teams
    • Improve role clarity, decision-making and ways of working
    • Lead effectively through change, ambiguity and competing priorities
    • Build leadership capability that reduces dependence on support functions and increases leader ownership

Working across the organisation, you'll:

    • Coach and challenge leaders to strengthen leadership effectiveness and impact
    • Facilitate leadership team development, alignment and effectiveness initiatives
    • Diagnose organisational and team performance challenges and identify practical solutions
    • Lead organisational health, culture and effectiveness reviews
    • Support leaders through workforce, structural and operating model changes
    • Design and deliver targeted leadership and organisational effectiveness interventions
    • Translate workforce, culture and organisational insights into action
    • Develop frameworks, tools and resources that strengthen leadership practice and decision-making
    • Partner closely with HR Business Partners, Employee Relations, Safety & Wellbeing and People & Culture teams to support sustainable organisational outcomes

About you

You are an experienced organisational development, organisational effectiveness, leadership or change professional who is known for your credibility, insight and ability to influence senior leaders.

You'll bring:

      • Significant experience in organisational development, organisational effectiveness, leadership capability, change or a related field
      • Strong coaching, consulting and facilitation skills
      • Experience working with senior leaders on complex organisational and people challenges
      • A strong understanding of organisation design, operating models, culture and change enablement
      • The ability to diagnose issues beneath the surface and identify the interventions that will create meaningful impact
      • Outstanding stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
      • The confidence to challenge constructively and hold leaders accountable where required
      • Excellent written and communication skills.

What makes someone successful in this role?

You'll thrive if you are:

      • Curious, insightful and diagnostically rigorous
      • Commercially and organisationally minded
      • Comfortable challenging assumptions and having courageous conversations
      • Passionate about leadership and organisational performance
      • Systems-focused and able to connect people, culture and operational outcomes
      • Pragmatic, adaptable and action-oriented
      • Energised by complexity and ambiguity
      • Committed to building capability rather than creating dependency

Why join us?
