About the Department / Program  

The Engineering and Facilities Management department at Monash Health is responsible for the planning, delivery, and stewardship of infrastructure and built assets across one of Australia's largest health services. The team drives the delivery of capital works, minor infrastructure projects, technical advisory services, and asset and compliance management across more than 50 locations in south-east Melbourne. Our work ensures that Monash Health's physical environment supports the safe, high-quality care provided to 1.2 million residents in our community every day. 

  

About the Role  

Join our team as an Engineering and Infrastructure Senior Manager on a full-time, ongoing basis, working primarily at our Clayton campus with travel to other Monash Health facilities as required. In this role, you will be guided under the leadership of the Head of Engineering & Facilities Management and work with the broader Engineering and Facilities Management team. This is a senior leadership position responsible for driving operational excellence across three key functions: 

  • Leading the Projects Delivery, Technical Advisory, and Assets and Compliance functions, ensuring alignment with organisational strategy and objectives 

  • Overseeing the successful delivery of infrastructure and minor works projects, ensuring completion on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards 

  • Managing the Technical Advisory team to ensure all technical decisions and recommendations meet industry standards and regulatory requirements 

  • Overseeing asset lifecycle management, maintenance scheduling, and capital expenditure planning across the organisation 

  • Driving compliance with all regulatory, safety, and operational standards across projects and asset management activities 

  • Fostering a culture of continuous improvement, integrated decision-making, and professional development across teams 

  • Serving as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders including senior leadership, contractors, consultants, and regulatory bodies 

  • Acting as delegate for the department head, ensuring continuity of leadership and operations in their absence 

Please note this role includes participation in an after-hours on-call roster and travel across Monash Health sites. 

  

About You  

To be successful in this healthcare role, you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience, and attributes: 

  • Proven expertise in managing large-scale infrastructure, construction, or engineering projects from initiation through to completion, including simultaneous management of multiple projects 

  • Exceptional leadership capabilities with experience managing multidisciplinary teams, providing coaching, mentorship, and fostering collaborative work environments 

  • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering and technical best practices in asset management, infrastructure, and compliance within complex industries 

  • Strong understanding of risk management principles, with the ability to identify, assess, and mitigate risks across projects and asset management functions 

  • Familiarity with asset management frameworks including ISO 55000 and AMAF, and best practices in asset performance optimisation 

  • Strong knowledge of local safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements in infrastructure and facilities management 

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to present complex technical information to non-technical audiences 

 

Mandatory requirements of the role: 

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline 

  • Postgraduate qualifications in Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree or professional certifications such as PMP, Chartered Engineer, or LEED highly desirable) 

  • PMP, Prince2, or Agile certification 

  • Valid right to work in Australia 

  • National Police Check and Working with Children Check (WWCC) 

  • Evidence of required immunisations prior to commencement
