About the Role:
Join our team as a Senior Mental Health Clinician, within the EPS, which is located in the Emergency Department at Monash Medical Centre. This opportunity is open to Social Workers (Gr3), Occupational Therapists (Gr3), Psychologists (Gr3) or Nurses (Gr4) who are seeking full time/part-time employment and can work across a 24/7 rotational roster.
In this role you will be required to
- Complete comprehensive mental health and risk assessments for consumer presenting to the emergency department requiring mental health support, and formulating treatment and referral plans as required.
- Demonstrate commitment to person-centred care, and provide evidence based interventions, whereby you will work to best practice standards.
- Demonstrate proficiency in mental health first aid skills, including effective and safe communication techniques for interacting with consumers experiencing mental health challenges.
- Have excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with multiple stakeholders.
- Demonstrate an understanding of psychosocial supports and treatment options for consumers experiencing mental health challenges.
- Conduct comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care in collaboration with consumers, their carer/s, within a multidisciplinary team to achieve positive health outcome for our consumers.
About Us:
The Emergency Psychiatric Service (EPS) Senior Mental Health Clinician sits within a newly developed Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs Hub, located within the Emergency Department. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team, whereby you will collaborate with various stakeholders within the Emergency Department. This will include emergency services and other internal and external services. EPS staff operate on a 24-hour rotating roster, including night duty, to provide acute psychiatric assessments across the lifespan.
The service prioritizes enabling consumers to make choices around their treatment, whereby the focus is around recovery-oriented interventions, and working within the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022, to provide support which is tailored to the consumer and carer needs.
