About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Grade 3 Social Worker or Occupational Therapist to step into a Senior Clinician role within the Clayton HOPE Team. This leadership position is central to our suicide prevention and postvention service, providing expert clinical oversight and care coordination to individuals experiencing suicidal distress or identified as at risk.

As Senior Clinician, you will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of clinical and non-clinical professionals— including lived experience and psychosocial workers—delivering a person-centred, outreach model of care. You’ll guide staff in risk assessments, clinical reviews, and safety planning, while also managing a reduced caseload to maintain direct clinical engagement.

This is a Monday to Friday role (8:30am – 5:00pm), with extended service hours on Tuesday evenings.

About Us

Our Mental Health Program is committed to providing recovery-focused, trauma-informed care that supports individuals across the lifespan. The HOPE team is a unique initiative supporting people post-suicide attempt or in crisis, working collaboratively with emergency and community services to reduce suicide risk and improve health outcomes. Based at the Atherton Road Centre, the HOPE Team is co-located with services including the Crisis Assessment and Treatment Team (CATT), Continuing Care Team (CCT), Mobile Support Team (MST), and Agile Psychological Medicine (APM), supporting an integrated approach to care.

About You

You are a qualified and experienced Grade 3 Social Worker or Occupational Therapist with demonstrated leadership capabilities in community mental health care. You’re confident in complex risk assessment, safety planning, team supervision, and supporting non-clinical staff with clinical decision-making.

You bring sound knowledge of mental health frameworks, including the Victorian Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022, and have a passion for improving the lives of individuals at risk of suicide through integrated, evidence-based care.

You will bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications and registration (AHPRA or AASW)
  • Postgraduate training or leadership experience in mental health
  • Strong knowledge of community-based mental health services
  • Clinical expertise in risk and mental state assessment
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor and lead a team
  • High-level communication, coordination and problem-solving skills
  • Capacity to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Valid Victorian Driver’s Licence
