About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated medical scientist with relevant training and at least 5 years’ experience working in a Routine Haematology/Coagulation and Morphology Laboratory to join our team. 

  • Full time (76hrs f/n) Temporary Medical Scientist Grade 3 Routine Haematology, Coagulation and Morphology.
  • The Grade 3 role supervises the day to day management of the Routine and Morphology area in a fast paced and dynamic laboratory. 
  • Duties include staff allocation, bench work, quality assurance activities, supervision, training, education, stores and rostering. 

  • We are looking for an enthusiastic senior scientist with expert knowledge who ensures the laboratory complies with quality requirements and leads innovation through development and consolidation of assays and workflows 

 

About You: 

  • Bachelor of Applied Science or equivalent. Possession of appropriate postgraduate qualifications is desirable. 

  • Recognised specialist training and competence relevant to the position including appropriate knowledge and experience in laboratory services, quality systems, information technology and relevant analytical methods and techniques related to specialized coagulation. 

  • Experience in staff training and competency documentation 

  • Clear concise, verbal and written communication skills 

  • Proven ability to work cooperatively with pathologists, clinicians, senior scientists and researchers 

  • Demonstrated experience in preparation of laboratory for NATA accreditation. 

  • Commitment to professional development and education 

  • Strong interest and skills in blood film morphology 

  • Demonstrated resource and staff management skills e.g rostering and performance appraisal.
