Monash Children’s Hospital | 0.3 EFT | Fixed Term until 30 June 2027
 
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Senior Social Worker to join the Pathway to Good Health (PTGH) program within the Developmental Paediatrics Unit at Monash Health.
 
Based at Monash Children’s Hospital, this role will support children with prenatal alcohol exposure and complex neurodevelopmental needs, working closely with Child Protection and multidisciplinary teams to ensure children entering statutory care receive timely health assessment and coordinated care.
 
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a statewide initiative improving health outcomes for children in care, while working within a highly specialised paediatric service.
 
About the Role
 
In this role you will:
  • Provide specialist psychosocial assessments for children referred to the PTGH program
  • Support children, families and carers through the referral and diagnostic process
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary case discussions and care planning
  • Liaise with Child Protection, healthcare providers and community services
  • Advocate for children and support access to appropriate services
 
This 0.3 EFT role includes clinics held on Mondays at Monash Children's Hospital or the Early Parenting Centre, with flexibility for remaining hours.
 
 
About Us 
 
Within Monash Children’s Hospital, the Developmental and Community Paediatrics Unit provides multidisciplinary assessment and care for children with complex developmental and behavioural needs.
 
 
The Pathway to Good Health (PTGH) program is a partnership between Monash Health and the Victorian Department of Health designed to ensure children entering statutory care receive timely, high-quality health assessments and coordinated support.
 
 
About You
 
You are an experienced paediatric social worker with strong skills in psychosocial assessment and working with vulnerable children and families. You will bring:
 
  • A Bachelor or Master of Social Work and eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers
  • Significant experience in child and family or paediatric settings
  • Experience supporting children with developmental or behavioural challenges
  • Knowledge of Child Protection and out-of-home care systems
  • Strong communication and multidisciplinary collaboration skills
 
Experience or interest in Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) is highly regarded, with education in this area supported.
