About the Role

 

An exciting opportunity is available for a passionate and motivated Grade 1 Social Worker to join our Paediatric Rotation Program across Monash Children’s services. This unique rotational role offers the opportunity to develop specialist skills and experience across three diverse and rewarding clinical programs, offering experience across:

 

  • Monash Children’s Allied Health – delivering specialised inpatient, outpatient and community-based paediatric care
  • Victorian Paediatric Rehabilitation Service (VPRS) – supporting children and young people through interdisciplinary rehabilitation programs
  • Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies (HMHB) – providing outreach and early intervention support to pregnant women and families experiencing vulnerability and psychosocial complexity

 

Working within multidisciplinary teams, you will provide high-quality, evidence-based social work services to infants, children, adolescents, pregnant women and their families across inpatient, outpatient and community settings. This role will see you:

 

  • Deliver psychosocial assessments, counselling, advocacy and crisis intervention
  • Support families experiencing psychosocial complexity, family violence, disability, mental health concerns and child protection issues
  • Coordinate discharge planning and referrals to community supports
  • Facilitate family meetings and provide bereavement and end-of-life support where required
  • Work collaboratively with allied health, medical, nursing and community services teams
  • Build strong partnerships with external agencies including Child Protection, The Orange Door, schools, Maternal Child Health Services and community organisations
  • Contribute to quality improvement, service development and research initiatives

About You

 

You are a compassionate and adaptable Social Worker who is passionate about supporting children, young people and families through complex and challenging circumstances. To be successful in this role, you will bring:

 

  • Qualification in Social Work with eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build therapeutic relationships
  • Experience in acute healthcare, paediatrics, rehabilitation, community health and/or Child Protection settings
  • Knowledge of child and family systems, psychosocial assessment and trauma-informed practice
  • Understanding of service systems including Family Violence, Child Protection, NDIS and Mental Health
  • Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to adapt in fast-paced clinical environments
  • Commitment to family-centred care, advocacy and continuous learning
