About the Role

Join our team as a Grade 3 Social Work Clinical Educator on a full time, fixed term basis until October 2025. This position will require you to work across multiple Monash Health sites.  

 

In this role, you will play a key role in supporting and developing the Social Work workforce across Monash Health’s bed-based services. This role focuses on the orientation, upskilling, and ongoing clinical support of Social Work clinicians to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and evidence-based care.

 

Working in collaboration with key stakeholders, you will identify current and future workforce development needs and design tailored education and training programs to address them. You’ll be responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of professional development resources, using a range of educational modalities such as online learning, face-to-face training, and simulation.

 

With a strong understanding of clinical education and project management methodologies, you will help map existing skillsets, support capability building, and promote innovation through digital health technologies. You’ll also coordinate Social Work orientation and ensure alignment with the Allied Health Education Framework, Strategic Plan, and Scope of Practice processes.


About Us
The Social Work Service at Monash Health assists patients and families with psychosocial support and advocacy through assessment, counselling, information provision, access to community resources, and discharge planning. Social Workers function as members of the multidisciplinary team and have a pivotal role where social complexity exists. The Social Work Service operating hours are standard business hours Monday to Friday. A weekend service is provided by roster at Casey, Clayton, Dandenong and Victorian Heart Hospital sites and an on-call service is also provided to the acute sites.

About You

You are a senior Social Worker with at least seven years of post-qualification experience, including bed-based service delivery. You bring a deep understanding of social work theory and its practical application across complex clinical settings, including psychosocial assessment, counselling, advocacy, and care coordination for individuals with multifaceted needs.

 

With advanced knowledge of relevant legislation and strong capability navigating complex service systems such as Child Protection, NDIS, Mental Health, and Family Violence services, you operate confidently in diverse organisational and cultural contexts. You have a sound grasp of clinical education methods and experience in developing and delivering effective education programs.

 

You’re a proven leader, skilled in project management, quality improvement, and mentoring others. With strong communication, digital literacy, and time management skills, you are committed to continuous professional development and driving service excellence through workforce capability building.


Qualification & Licence requirements include: 

  • Bachelor of Social Work or Masters Social Work Qualifying OR Master of Social Work, OR equivalent as assessed and approved by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
  • Eligible for ordinary membership of AASW if overseas trained (http://www.aasw.asn.au/)
  • A current Victorian Driver’s Licence
