About the Role
Join the Social Work Service at Monash Health and begin your career in one of Victoria’s leading health services through our Graduate Social Work Rotation Program.
We are seeking a New Graduate / Grade 1 Social Worker to join our team in a full-time, fixed-term position through to January 2028. This unique rotational opportunity will provide exposure across a variety of acute and subacute hospital settings and multiple Monash Health sites, allowing you to build broad clinical experience and develop your social work career in a supportive healthcare environment.
As part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide psychosocial assessment, counselling, advocacy, discharge planning and connection to community supports for patients and families experiencing complex health and social needs. You will manage a clinical caseload within designated areas while developing your clinical reasoning, communication and evidence-based practice skills.
This role offers an excellent foundation for early career Social Workers looking to strengthen their clinical capability while contributing to positive patient outcomes and a strong team culture. You will also have opportunities to participate in quality improvement, service development and research initiatives throughout the program.
A sound understanding of service systems including Family Violence, Child Protection, My Aged Care, Transition Care Program, NDIS, Mental Health and recovery-oriented practice will support your success in this role. Practice is aligned with the professional standards and ethical framework of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).

About You
You are an enthusiastic and compassionate graduate or early career Social Worker who is eager to build your clinical skills within a large and supportive healthcare environment. You enjoy working collaboratively, value patient-centred care and are committed to ongoing professional development. You will also demonstrate:
- Strong psychosocial assessment and communication skills
- The ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
- A commitment to evidence-based and recovery-oriented practice
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A willingness to learn, contribute and grow within a rotational program environment
