Social work services are provided in inpatient settings including Paediatric ICU, Children’s Cancer Centre, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit; and in ambulatory care services. As a locum social worker, you will contribute to the Monash Children’s Allied Health team within a supportive, skilled and collaborative professional environment, with access to guidance and expertise as required.
In this role, you will enjoy:
-
Casual weekday and weekend roles

-
Opportunities to work in various clinical areas
Weekday Locum Role
As a casual paediatric social work locum at MCH, you will provide short‑term coverage during periods of vacancy, which may include part‑time or full‑time blocks. Your work will involve psychosocial assessment and intervention with infants, children, adolescents and their families within an acute hospital setting. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary colleagues across the service to ensure high‑quality, consistent, and family‑centred care.
Weekend Locum Role
The weekend locum position is an autonomous role supporting a range of clinical areas across the Monash Children’s program. The focus includes timely responses to urgent and critical care presentations, as well as safe and supported weekend discharge planning where appropriate. Weekend clinicians must be confident in managing child‑at‑risk concerns and end‑of‑life issues; however, training can be provided to support development in these areas.
By joining the Monash Health Locum Bank, you will be considered for casual social work shifts across MCH. Once registered, you may be contacted when locum work becomes available, depending on service needs across both weekday and weekend rosters. Please indicate in your cover letter whether you are seeking weekday or weekend work and outline your availability.
