About the Role:

We are looking for a Speech Pathologist Grade 2 to join our team on a part-time fixed-term (0.30 EFT / 22.8 hours per fortnight) basis until March 2027.

 

The Department of Paediatrics, Monash University is partnering with Monash Children’s Hospital to provide appointments in Developmental Paediatrics to support the Developmental Regression Clinic. The purpose of this role is delivering a research-integrated clinical service for children who are referred to Developmental Paediatrics because they have lost Developmental skills early in life or children aged over 3 years who do not use words are their primary means of communication. 

 

In this role you need to require skills and experience in speech and language assessments of children, including children with global developmental delay or disability, and will ideally be experienced in working with autistic children and children with intellectual disability with autism spectrum disorders and/or neurogenetic disorders. 

 

You will be a speech pathologist, who will be working with either a senior speech pathologist (Non-speaking children clinic) or in a team (Regression clinic) with developmental paediatricians, a clinical geneticist, paediatric neurologist, psychologist and a clinic coordinator.

 

The role will include conducting speech and language assessments, providing excellent communication with families, children and other professionals, writing assessment reports, and contributing to teaching and training within the team. Providing recommendations for families and their community health and education professionals will be an important part of the role. 

 

 

About Us:

Speech Pathology at Monash Health covers the continuum and the life span. We have a large bed based department across six hospital sites; Monash Medical Centre, the Victorian Heart Hospital, Kingston Centre, Dandenong, Moorabbin and Casey hospitals and teams of speech pathologists in community health, community rehabilitation, clinics and mental health programs.

 

 

About You:

  • Demonstrated commitment to best practice care 
  • Your strong communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Bachelor of Speech Pathology, Bachelor of Applied Science (Speech Pathology), Bachelor of Health Science (Speech Pathology), Master of Speech Pathology or recognised equivalent (including overseas qualifications assessed by Speech Pathology Australia (SPA) within the past two years 
  • Eligible for membership as a Certified Practicing Speech Pathologist (CPSP) with SPA  
  • Minimum one-year relevant clinical speech pathology experience preferably within an Early Intervention, Child Development and/or Disability sector
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team in relation to service provision to children with complex neurological, developmental, and behavioural symptoms
