About the Role:

Join our team as a paediatric Speech Pathologist on a part-time fixed-term (0.60 EFT / 45.6 hours per fortnight) basis until September 2026, based at Monash Children’s Hospital.   

 

In this role you will provide clinical services to paediatric inpatients and outpatients (communication and swallowing) and will support the clinical education of students. Incorporating general paediatric and neonatal inpatient and outpatient caseloads, as well as Monash Children’s in the Home (Post Acute Care). The Grade 2 Speech Pathologist forms part of a dynamic, evidence-based team and will be involved in service development and quality improvement projects to support high quality clinical care. There are opportunities for teaching and involvement in research in this fast paced role in a hospital setting where speech pathology is highly valued. 

The Speech Pathology Service operating hours are standard business hours Monday to Friday. Across site work is expected within the inpatient role, specifically Casey and Dandenong Hospital.  Travel around the local area is also expected within the Monash Children’s in the Home portion of this role. A weekend service is provided by roster at Clayton site only – you where you will be expected to participate in the weekend roster. Training will be provided before commencement on this roster.

 

You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues across the service to promote clinical excellence and ensure consistent practice.

 

There is the opportunity to increase this role to 0.8 EFT from the time of appointment until February 2026, after which it will return to its base allocation of 0.6 EFT.

We have Victoria’s largest Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and provide leading paediatric services in many areas including Rehabilitation & Oncology.   Allied Health at Monash Children’s Hospital provides specialised services to paediatric patients across the continuum including inpatients, outpatients and via Hospital in the Home.

 

 

About You:

To ensure your success in this role you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge:

  • A speech pathology qualification
  • Eligibility for membership to Speech Pathology Australia
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in paediatrics and/or hospital based speech pathology
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in the paediatric setting
  • Desirable – paediatric and infant feeding competency
  • Desirable – Paediatric videofluoroscopy competency
