Monash Health is seeking an exceptional Senior Speech Pathologist (Grade 3) in a Full-time, ongoing role to provide clinical leadership across our Aged Care Services program and play a key role in shaping the future of aged care. 

This is more than a senior clinical role. It is an opportunity to influence service delivery, mentor the next generation of clinicians, drive innovation, and help older people live well through high-quality, person-centred care.

About the Role 

As the Senior Speech Pathologist, you will be the clinical leader for Speech Pathology within Aged Care Services, providing specialised expertise in gerontology while supporting the ongoing development of staff, services and systems. 

You will be a valued member of the Aged Care Services Senior Leadership Team and contribute to strategic planning, workforce development, service redesign, and continuous improvement initiatives. 

About You 

You are a passionate and experienced clinician who thrives on leadership, collaboration and creating positive outcomes for older people. 

You’ll bring: 

• Leadership experience, ideally within gerontology, community health or aged care 

• Strong clinical expertise in swallowing, communication and complex care needs of older adults 

• Proven leadership, coaching and mentoring skills 

• Experience leading service improvement or quality initiatives 

• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities 

• A commitment to innovation, professional growth and person-centred care 

Qualifications, registrations and licenses 

• Bachelor of Speech Pathology, Bachelor of Applied Science (Speech Pathology), Bachelor of Health Science (Speech Pathology), Master of Speech Pathology or recognised equivalent degree (including overseas qualified speech pathologists who have completed a mutual recognition agreement or competency assessment via Speech Pathology Australia in the previous two years) 

• Speech Pathology Australia Membership and Certified Practicing  Speech Pathologist (CPSP) status 

• Current Victorian driver's licence or equivalent. 

• Current and Satisfactory Aged Care Clearance (Police Check/Aged Care Worker Screen)    

• Current and Satisfactory NDIS worker screening check, and completion of the NDIS worker orientation module; Quality, safety and you  

• No current Aged Care Banning Orders in place (as per Register of Banning Orders) or NDIS exclusion order in place  

• Demonstrated highly specialised knowledge and skills in communication and swallowing 

• Normally have at least 7 years’ post qualifying experience  

• Demonstrated experience leading and collaborating in quality improvement and/or research activities, supporting others as required 

• Demonstrated experience leading and delivering high quality professional development and education of others based on best practice education principles  

• Demonstrated strong people leadership skills and experience 

• Higher qualification in management or clinical (Desirable) 

• Research active (Desirable) 

• VFSS (Videofluoroscopic Swallow Study) competency (Desirable)
