About the Role
Join a specialist team making a meaningful difference in the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families.
We are seeking an experienced Grade 3 Speech Pathologist to join our FASD Team at Monash Health. This is a unique opportunity to provide highly specialised, culturally responsive Speech Pathology services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children with prenatal alcohol exposure and broader neurodevelopmental differences.
Working within the FASD Indigenous Clinic, you will provide specialist assessment, clinical leadership and support to children aged 3–10 years, helping to improve functional capacity, participation, regulation and everyday life skills. You will work collaboratively with families, Aboriginal Health Workers, community organisations and a multidisciplinary team to deliver strengths-based, culturally safe care.
Clinical services will be provided to patients within your designated caseload and other areas as directed by the FASD Services Management Team.
In this role, you will:
- Provide highly specialised, culturally responsive Speech Pathology assessment and clinical leadership within the FASD Indigenous Clinic, including participation in multidisciplinary diagnostic clinics in accordance with the Australian FASD Diagnostic Guidelines (2025)
- Work in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, supporting caregivers to understand FASD as a brain-based disability and providing practical strategies that build on family strengths and cultural practices
- Collaborate with Aboriginal Health Workers, community organisations and the multidisciplinary team to support culturally safe, family-centred care
- Provide high-quality standardised and contextual Speech Pathology assessments, including yarning-based assessment, caregiver interviews, observations across contexts and measures such as CELF-5, CELF Preschool-3, PLS-5, FCP-R, CCC-2 and TNL-2
- Review patient histories and previous assessments to inform consultations and contribute specialist Speech Pathology expertise within the diagnostic process
About Us
The FASD Service, within Developmental Paediatrics, provides specialist multidisciplinary diagnostic assessments for children with prenatal alcohol exposure who present with complex neurological, developmental and/or behavioural symptoms.
The service works closely with children, families and carers, including through the Aboriginal Child Assessment (ACA) Clinic, to provide culturally responsive and comprehensive assessments in accordance with the Australian FASD Diagnostic Guidelines. Many children supported by the service have experienced additional complexities, including histories of trauma and/or out-of-home care, requiring a compassionate, strengths-based approach.
Alongside clinical assessment, the FASD Service provides education, clinical training and resources to community services and health professionals to build understanding of FASD presentations, diagnostic criteria and best practice support for children and families.
About You
You are a passionate Speech Pathologist who thrives in a team environment and puts patient experience at the centre of your practice. You bring strong clinical expertise, a commitment to quality improvement, and an interest in clinical education.

- Minimum seven years’ relevant Speech Pathology experience, preferably within Early Intervention, Child Development and/or Disability settings
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary team supporting children with complex neurological, developmental and behavioural presentations
Mandatory Requirements:
- Bachelor or Masters of Speech Pathology or recognised equivalent
- Eligibility for practising membership with Speech Pathology Australia
- Flexibility to work across sites as required
