About the Role:
Join our team as a paediatric Speech Pathologist on a part-time ongoing (0.60 EFT / 45.6 hours per fortnight) basis, based at Monash Children’s Hospital in Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)/Critical Care and Complex Care.
In this role, you’ll provide specialised clinical services to the inpatient and outpatient Critical Care caseload, including PICU, Respiratory Medicine, ENT, and Complex Care.
You’ll work closely with our multidisciplinary senior allied health team, applying your advanced skills in communication and swallowing management to achieve the best outcomes for patients and families.
As part of our dynamic, evidence-based team, you’ll be supported to grow and contribute in many ways, including:
- Leading and participating in service development and quality improvement projects
- Taking up opportunities to teach and mentor
- Contributing to research in a fast-paced hospital setting where speech pathology is highly valued
This Grade 3 role comes with strong support, including direct clinical supervision from a Grade 4 speech pathologist, and the chance to thrive within a large, collaborative team.

Monash Children’s Hospital is one of Australia’s leading providers of integrated children’s health services, with more than 30 specialist services and programs. We have Victoria’s largest Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and provide leading paediatric services in many areas including Rehabilitation & Oncology. Allied Health at Monash Children’s Hospital provides specialised services to paediatric patients across the continuum including inpatients, outpatients and via Hospital in the Home.
About You:
To thrive in this role, you will bring the following:
- A recognised degree in Speech Pathology (Bachelor or Master level), including overseas qualifications assessed by Speech Pathology Australia (SPA) within the past two years
- Eligible for membership as a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist (CPSP) with SPA
- A minimum of 7 years experience in paediatrics and/or hospital based speech pathology
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in the paediatric setting
- Extensive experience in teaching and training
- Experience in service development/quality improvement and research
- Paediatric and infant feeding competency
- Paediatric videofluoroscopy competency
- Demonstrated skills in paediatric tracheostomy and complex aerodigestive conditions impacting communication, feeding and swallowing
