About the Role:
Join our team as a Support Services Manager on a full-time, ongoing basis at Victorian Heart Hospital, located in Clayton. As Australia's first dedicated cardiac hospital, this cutting-edge facility delivers leading cardiovascular care, education, and research.
In this high-impact role, the Support Services Manager reports to the Director of Support Services and oversees the efficient delivery of key support functions, including food services, environmental services, linen, waste management, pest control and patient transport by leading and coordinating daily operations. Working closely with executive and site leadership teams, the Support Services Manager ensures Support Services are aligned with patient care needs, safety standards, and performance targets to deliver seamless, patient-centred service. The Support Services Manager plays a crucial role in maintaining service excellence, safety, and a culture of continuous improvement, directly contributing to patient experience and clinical support.
Key responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Developing and implementing best-practice service delivery models and quality frameworks
- Ensuring compliance with hospital standards, infection prevention, and safety protocols
- Managing contracts, budgets, KPIs and performance benchmarks
- Fostering a high-performing team culture with a focus on employee development and collaboration
- Driving service innovation and supporting the integration of support services into clinical care
- Participating in audits, accreditation preparation, and service reviews
About You:
You are an experienced leader with a strong track record in managing a Support Services (or similar) function in a large complex organisation, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting. You’re passionate about customer service and bring your extensive experience in strategic planning, contract and financial management, whilst motivating multidisciplinary teams. You have a demonstrated track record of achievement in leading and developing teams. You are passionate about quality, safety, and service improvement, and you are ready to contribute to a world-class hospital environment. With highly developed communication, influencing and negotiation skills, you are an adept manager who leads by example, inspiring your people to be the best they can be.
You will also bring:
- Postgraduate qualifications in Business, Health Management or a related discipline
- Deep understanding of compliance, accreditation, and hospital infrastructure needs
- Expertise in budgeting, workforce planning, and contract/vendor management
