The Mental Health Program serves consumers, their carers and families across the South-Eastern metropolitan region with bed-based, community and rehabilitation programs. We are excited to announce an exciting opportunity for a senior (Grade 3) Occupational Therapist or Social Worker to join Monash Health and Launch Housing. In this innovative partnership role, you will work closely with the Discipline Senior team at Monash and the Supportive Housing team based at Dandenong. You will provide a responsive and flexible service tailored to the needs of our client group who have entrenched homelessness and complex physical and mental health needs. You will work in a multi-disciplinary team that includes Launch Housing case managers, a Bolton Clarke Nurse, Youth worker, Ngwala Aboriginal case manager and Neami Mental Health Worker. 

 

About You

You have been developing your clinical expertise in mental health care and have a developed understanding of the needs of people with long-standing homelessness.  You are an accomplished Social Worker or Occupational Therapist able to support the team by providing secondary consultations, screening assessments and referrals. You lead by example, thrive working in a dynamic environment and are truly passionate about delivering a high standard of evidence informed care to all patients, families and carers. You also:     

  • Demonstrate extensive specialist skills and knowledge, and experience in using occupational therapy or social work theory and practice to support the emotional, cognitive, physical and spiritual well-being of consumers who are experiencing homelessness. 

  • Committed to delivering patient centred care and advocacy in line with organisational and professional practice standards    

  • Enthusiastic, compassionate & able to work collaboratively    

  • Excited to be accountable for and manage specific portfolios in our relentless pursuit of excellence    

What You Need:  

Occupational Therapists and Social Workers would normally have seven years of clinical experience. 

Occupational Therapists require

  • Bachelor of Occupational Therapist or Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) or equivalent 

  • Current general registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) – Occupational Therapy, with no restrictions.  

Social workers require

  • Bachelor of Social Work or Masters Social Work Qualifying OR Masters of Social Work, OR equivalent as assessed and approved by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) 

  • Written evidence of eligibility for AASW membership for overseas qualifications is required.  

  • Accredited Social Worker and/or Accredited Mental Health Social Worker: As approved by the AASW, is preferred
