About Oncology Research

Oncology Research at Monash Health Clayton are one of the largest oncology clinical research teams in Victoria. We operate leading specialist research teams across cancer areas including breast, gynae, GU, GI, lung, neuro, skin, head and neck, and early phase trials, and have around 200 clinical trials open at any one time. Monash Health recruit from one of the largest catchment areas in Victoria and have a dedicated Clinical Trials Centre, offering cutting edge clinical care specific for the provision of clinical trials. 

About the Role - Team Lead, Oncology Research (Breast) 

We are looking for an experienced Research Nurse/Study Coordinator who can lead our breast cancer clinical trials team into the future to strengthen and enhance our breast cancer trials portfolio.This role involves hands on study coordination of commercially sponsored and collaborative group trials, training and mentoring a team of study coordinators, is patient facing, and is responsible for the ongoing management of the breast cancer trials team into the future. You will work closely with our Breast Oncologists, Nurse Practitioners, Fellows, as well as Breast Cancer Research Groups and the wider oncology department at Monash Health.  

The Team Lead will report to the Research Manager who will provide clinical guidance, provide professional management and day to day work review. It is desirable that the Research Team staff are knowledgeable in the administration of anticancer drugs. The actual administration of the trial drugs will be conducted at the Clinical Trials Centre Monash Health Translation Precinct. Workload may be variable dependent on the number and status of research studies.  

The role is classified as a Research Nurse Level 3 (YX13) or Science Equivalent (RZ1), and is Full Time (however 0.8FTE may be considered for the right candidate).  

About You 

Qualifications, registrations and licences:

• Current AHPRA Division 1 Nursing registration or science degree equivalent
• Proficient in Microsoft and IT systems
• Minimum of 3 years clinical trials experience
• Desirable: Oncology/ Haematology post graduate qualification, but at a minimum, relevant applicable knowledge and/or experience in this field.  

Technical skills, knowledge and experience: 

• Demonstrated experience in coordinating (oncology) clinical trials
• Demonstrated experience managing small, multidisciplinary teams
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills
• Advanced skills in using data collection systems used for clinical trials (paper and electronic).
• Proven ability to manage time and prioritise tasks effectively in situations where competing deadlines may arise.
• Demonstrated knowledge of all applicable guidelines, regulations and legislations associated with clinical research in Australia.
