About the Department / Program  

The Cardiac Imaging Department at Monash Heart provides high-quality, non-invasive cardiac diagnostics across multiple campuses. Working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, the department is committed to excellence in echocardiography, supporting accurate diagnosis and optimal patient care, while fostering ongoing learning and professional development.

 

Australia’s first dedicated cardiac hospital, located in Clayton at Monash University’s Clayton campus. It offers world-class cardiovascular care, research, and education, with advanced facilities for cardiac procedures, imaging, and specialist treatment. 

 

About the Role

Join our team as a Grade 2 Trainee Cardiac Sonographer at the Victorian Heart Hospital and contribute to life-changing cardiac care. As part of Australia’s largest dedicated cardiology department, we provide exceptional services to both adult and paediatric patients. 

 

As a Trainee Cardiac Sonographer you will participate in a Training Program to develop skills in the performance of echocardiography.  

We have 2 positions available: part-time ongoing (0.6 x 2 EFT) opportunity, based at the Victorian Heart Hospital, with travel to other sites as required. 

 

About You

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate a strong commitment to delivering high-quality echocardiography services within a supportive, team-focused environment. You will actively participate in a Cardiac Sonography Learning Program, taking direction from educators and experienced senior sonographers while continuing to build your skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with hospital staff, referrers, external agencies, patients and their families.

You will also hold the following certificates:

  • Undergraduate Science Degree
  • Student accreditation with the Australian Sonographer’s Accreditation Register (ASAR) – Category 2A
  • Apply Self Directed Learning where appropriate
