About Monash Health Pathology Service  

You will be joining Monash Health at an exciting time as we work in partnership with Alfred Health to be the premier shared public pathology service in Victoria.  As a member of the pathology team you will be helping shape the direction of the partnership. Monash Health Pathology is an integral part of Monash Health. It is the largest public provider of Pathology services in the state and currently operates 6 laboratories. The largest of these is located at the Monash Medical Centre, Clayton, with additional laboratories located at the Dandenong, Moorabbin, Casey, Victorian Heart Hospital and Wonthaggi Hospitals. There are currently 18 collection locations based within the hospital sites and community settings. Services are provided to the Public and Private sectors, and other laboratory services.   

About the Role 

The incumbent needs a very good understanding of pathology specimen reception with several years’ experience. In addition they require an excellent understanding of processes and procedures and had practical experience of learning methodologies and how to conduct training courses either in a one-on-one, on the job, or classroom situation. He/she needs to have an understanding of presentation skills and technologies to deliver effective courses and course materials. You will be part of a roster that rotates with other team members Monday to Friday. Health and Safety is essential requirements of the position in order to protect yourself and others. All personnel are required to wear approved safety glasses in conjunction with other personal protective equipment (provided by Monash Health).

• Must have advanced computer literacy in the Microsoft office Suite of products.
• Health/Medical experience.
• Leadership experience.
• Demonstrated experience in all areas of Pathology Specimen Reception
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to deal with diverse stakeholders
• Easily identified as a role model with leadership potential
• Demonstrated commitment to flexibility and innovation
• Well-developed problem solving skills
• Good understanding of Hospital/Pathology computer applications
• A personal work ethic of reliability, performance, integrity, and honesty is essential
• Ability to work independently and plan their own work schedule, within limits
• Advanced computer health/pathology application skills
• Team player
• Professional attitude/dress code.
• Willingness to improve skills and help others.
• Willingness to work at other Pathology sites.

Mandatory requirements of the role - qualifications, licences, memberships : 

• Completion (or willing to complete) Cert 4 in Training and Assessment or relevant years of experience in a training role in the health sector.
• Demonstrated experience in all areas of Pathology Specimen Reception
• Demonstrated initiative and time management abilities
• Demonstrated previous development of training programme
• Demonstrated effective skills in staff training
• Demonstrated ability to assume responsibility and accountabilities
• Good understanding of Hospital/Pathology computer applications
• Must have a current Victorian Driver’s Licence
