About Us

Monash Health is the largest public health service in Victoria, employing over 25,500 people across a range of specialities. Monash Children’s Hospital continues our tradition of providing outstanding patient and family centred care in a purpose-built paediatric facility, delivering clinical services in a child and family-friendly environment. 

Our PICU is a dedicated paediatric tertiary 10 bed unit with a complex patient mix and is one of only 2 Paediatric Intensive Care referral units for the State of Victoria. PICU is accredited by the College of Intensive Care Medicine of Australia and New Zealand and admits over 700 children a year with a broad range of general and subspecialty paediatric as well as surgical conditions.

 

About the Role

We are currently looking for experienced Registered Nurses (RN) who are excited by and are seeking to build a career in Paediatric Intensive Care (PICU), to join our Transition to Specialty Practice (TSP) Program commencing early March 2025.

Our TSP is a 12 month program, working a minimum of 0.8EFT (64 hours per fortnight) across a 24/7 rotating roster, with ongoing permanent hours in PICU available upon successful completion. The TSP will be commencing in the first week of March, 2025 and will be based at Monash Children’s Hospital in Clayton.

In PICU, we believe in supporting each other, in being kind and providing the very best care to the children and families in our unit.  We will provide a collegial structured learning environment coupled with clinical support that will enable you to grow your career. Our PICU TSP program will enable you to further develop your critical care paediatric skills with the expectation to move into post graduate studies within Paediatric Intensive Care Nursing in partnership with Melbourne University, post completion. Our PICU TSP program will develop you into an effective practitioner and will provide you with lifelong skills and knowledge to care for critically unwell children. 

 

About You

 

We invite motivated and high functioning RN’s, committed to delivering family centred care to critically ill children, to join our team as part of our PICU TSP program.  We welcome RN’s with:-

 

  • Consolidated nursing experience across acute/critical and/or emergency care settings is essential, with experience in paediatrics highly desirable, however if you are looking to move into Paediatric ICU from adult nursing we encourage you to submit your application  
  • A commitment to safe best practice and quality care
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal and professional development with a desire to complete Post Graduate studies in Paediatric Intensive Care over the next few years
  • The ability to work well under pressure and be flexible to changing priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and autonomously as required
  • Effective communication and strong interpersonal skills within a team driven environment
  • Enthusiasm and compassion and thrive working collaboratively and with kindness
  • committed to delivering patient centred care and advocating for your patients
  • Current AHPRA registration, essential
  • Australian working Rights, essential
