About the Role - Tribunal Officer (Full Time - Ongoing)
The Tribunal Officer position offers a role that is fast paced and where priorities constantly change. The focus of the role is the coordination of all the Mental Health Tribunals across the Monash Health campuses, it is a busy role but very interesting and satisfying. The Mental Health Tribunal is an independent statutory body that safeguards the rights and dignity of people with a mental illness. The primary function of a Mental Health Tribunal is to determine whether the criteria for compulsory treatment apply to a person.
The purpose of the role is to coordinate the Tribunal Hearings and ensure that all the legal requirements are in place. Your day will include monitoring the status of Compulsory Treatment Orders and updating any changes to legal status on the state-wide system (CMI). Communicating with patients, their families’, treating teams, Victorian Legal Aid and members of the Mental Health Tribunal Registry. The role offers an exciting opportunity for further growth as you will receive mentoring to develop your understanding of legal compliance and quality standards.
About You
Ideally, you will have:

Experience in working within a health related/mental health field along with a strong administrative background.

Advanced communication skills and the ability to negotiate and problem solve within a defined scope.

An uncompromising eye for detail and the confidence to quickly resolve issues as they arise.

The ability to produce reports and analyse data.

The ability to contribute to our small team where autonomy and teamwork are often interchangeable.

An optimistic and flexible outlook.

Hold a current driver’s licence as you may need to travel between sites.
