About the Role  

Head of Paediatric Cardiology position has accountability for clinical and operational performance for paediatric cardiology services across Monash Health. The incumbent is a leader of the senior medical team who acts as a role model for the core values of the organisation and provides outstanding and effective leadership, coordination and management of the Paediatric Cardiology Services. They will harness opportunities to innovate and support excellence in health care, research and education.  

  • Provide clinical leadership through active involvement in patient care. 

  • Participate in the clinical service roster as a Specialist in the paediatric cardiology. 

  • Lead an active team of consultant paediatric cardiology physicians providing inpatient and outpatient subspecialty services to children cared for in Monash Health. 

  • Contribute to provision of advanced training for registrars in Paediatric Cardiology. 

  • Lead ongoing service improvement and clinical and workforce innovation to ensure Monash Health provides high quality accessible Paediatric Cardiology services within allocated resources and meets the needs of Monash Health patients. 

  • Work with adult cardiology to continue to expand the adult congenital heart capability at Monash Health.  

  • Advance the Victorian landscape of paediatric cardiology care to enhance the National and International reputation of the Monash Children’s Hospital as a centre of excellence in Paediatric Cardiology. 

  • Support the attraction of research funding to support the department’s areas of research interest. 

  • Lead engagement with the professional and corporate life of Monash Health by participation in appropriate committees and forums. 

 

About You 

Qualifications/Registrations/Licenses:

  • Mandatory - Qualified as a medical practitioner with specialist qualifications and registration, or eligible for registration, as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia in the appropriate discipline. 
  • Fellowship of the College of Physicians in Paediatrics. 

  • Substantial recent relevant experience in paediatric cardiology services as a specialist in a major teaching hospital managing complex cardiology and post-cardiac surgery patients. 

The incumbent must complete the Credentialing and Scope of Practice process prior to appointment and commencement. This will be reviewed on a regular basis.  

Other position requirements:

  • As we support a culture of safety through employee immunisation, there must be documentation provided confirming completed immunisation on employment at Monash Health 
  • Current and satisfactory Police Check (must also comply with Aged Care Act 1997 Accountability Amendment Principles 2012 if working in Aged Care setting)  
  • Current and satisfactory Working with Children Check. 
  • Applicants who are new to Monash Health will be required to enter into an Employment Agreement before commencement
