We are excited to announce an outstanding opportunity for the successful applicant to lead the clinical paediatric haematology-oncology services at Monash Children’s Hospital. This position provides an excellent opportunity to drive innovation and excellence in healthcare, research, and education. The appointment will initially be for a five-year term.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of paediatric haematology and oncology specialists providing inpatient and outpatient care to children within Monash Health.
  • Drive service improvement, clinical, and workforce innovation to ensure Monash Health delivers high-quality, accessible paediatric haematology and oncology services within allocated resources.
  • Enhance Monash Children’s Hospital’s reputation as a national and international leader in paediatric haematology and oncology.
  • Provide clinical leadership through direct involvement in patient care.
  • Participate in the clinical service roster as a Specialist in the CCC.
  • Engage with Monash Health’s professional and corporate life through participation in relevant committees and forums.
  • Contribute to advanced training for paediatric haematology and oncology registrars.
  • Supervise honours, masters, and PhD students.

 

Quality and Safety:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of high-quality care strategies.
  • Ensure systems and measures are in place for exceptional care delivery.
  • Take accountability for the quality of care in relevant service departments.

 

Financial Management:

  • Ensure financial accountability across your areas and implement strategies to meet budget and performance targets.
  • Initiate actions to improve financial effectiveness.

 

People Management:

  • Participate in consultative health and safety processes, ensuring safe working practices.
  • Oversee recruitment, retention, recognition, and development strategies for employees.
  • Monitor and improve Monash Health’s Occupational Health and Safety Management System within your area.
  • Provide leadership and support for direct reports, including performance appraisals and professional development.

 

Person Specification:

  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications (MBBS or equivalent).
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in paediatric haematology and oncology (or equivalent).
  • Specialist training in paediatric haematology and oncology (aligned with RACP Advanced Training requirements).
  • Proven experience in clinical/laboratory research with independent research funding.

 

Other Requirements

  • Immunisation documentation required upon employment.
  • Evidence of immunisation must be provided by new applicants to Monash Health.
  • Current Police Check and Working with Children Check are mandatory.
  • Applicants new to Monash Health must enter into an Employment Agreement prior to commencement.

Employment Conditions
