About Us - Ward 7B
The Victorian Heart Hospital is Australia’s first hospital, dedicated to providing care for all acute, complex tertiary, and quaternary cardiac patients during their entire inpatient stay. Ward 7B is a Cardiac Inpatient Unit that features a unique patient centred model of care and provides specialist nursing care for Cardiology, Cardiothoracic and Heart Failure patients.
About the Opportunity
We are seeking a ward clerk who has strong communication skills with a focus on customer service. They will need to enjoy working within a team environment and at times manage tight time frames specifically related to admissions and discharges. A sound knowledge of computer/IT skill and sound knowledge of medical terminology.
This is a Part Time ongoing position working 12 hours per week (24hrs fn) based at the Victorian Heart Hospital.
Key Responsibilities:

Create an excellent first impression of Monash Health by greeting and directing patients and visitors in a pleasant and professional manner

Screen and prioritise telephone calls and enquiries for the Unit/Ward

Relay messages in an efficient and effective manner, including enquiries regarding patient condition to the appropriate clinician

Organise patient admission processes

Ensuring current patient information is entered and maintained on the patient management system including patient status and movement

Receive, prioritise and sort all inpatient correspondence

Perform clerical duties including word processing, photocopying, faxing, general filing and shredding of confidential material

Provide efficient and timely typing and formatting of documents which may include letters, patient assessment or discharge documents, memorandums as approved by the Manager

Order and maintain medical record forms, patient identification labels, stationery, equipment and ward stores as require
