Who We Are
South 4 is a 29 bed ward located in the Kingston Centre. The ward comprises of a rehabilitation and GEM (geriatric evaluation management) patients. We are a highly motivated and well-functioning team, who like to ensure good outcomes for our patients.
About the Opportunity
We are seeking a ward clerk who has strong communication skills with a focus on customer service. They will need to enjoy working within a team environment and at times manage tight time frames specifically related to admissions and discharges. A sound knowledge of computer/IT skill and sound knowledge of medical terminology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create an excellent first impression of Monash Health by greeting and directing patients and visitors in a pleasant and professional manner
- Screen and prioritise telephone calls and enquiries for the Unit/Ward
- Relay messages in an efficient and effective manner, including enquiries regarding patient condition to the appropriate clinician
- Organise patient admission processes including:
Ensuring current patient information is entered and maintained on the patient management system including patient status and movement
- Receive, prioritise and sort all inpatient correspondence
- Perform clerical duties including word processing, photocopying, faxing, general filing and shredding of confidential material
- Provide efficient and timely typing and formatting of documents which may include letters, patient assessment or discharge documents, memorandums as approved by the Manager
- Order and maintain medical record forms, patient identification labels, stationery, equipment and ward stores as require
About You
To thrive in this role and be an integral part of the team, you will need to be pro-active and enjoy a fast paced environment. A confident communicator with strong analytical and problem-solving ability, you know how to prioritize your workload and always exhibit our iCare Values: Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Excellence.
You bring valuable experience with hospital systems such as IPM and EMR, enabling you to manage patient information effectively in a dynamic clinical environment. Familiarity with the iPROC ordering system is highly regarded, as it enhances the efficiency of supply and service coordination.
