About the Role
Applications are invited to apply for the positions of Ophthalmology Senior Registrar or Ophthalmology Cataract and Medical Retina Fellow.
The Ophthalmology Department provides clinical services at Monash Medical Centre. Surgical services at the Cranbourne Day Surgery provide the second highest annual number of cataract operations in Victoria, with a smaller surgical service at Monash Medical Centre. On-call emergency services are provided at MMC, Monash Children's, Dandenong, Casey and Moorabbin Hospitals, and Kingston Centre. The Department comprises the Director of Department, twenty-seven sessional consultants and eight orthoptists.
The successful applicants will work in a busy ophthalmology department with extensive experience in all aspects of ophthalmology. In this role you will provide clinical and surgical services in a range of settings. This includes the multidisciplinary preadmission clinic for patients referred by community ophthalmologists and optometrists and postoperative assessment following surgery. Outpatient clinics provide inpatient and outpatient referral services for both adult and paediatric populations and cover all aspects of ophthalmology including medical and surgical retina, paediatrics/ocular motility, corneal and oculoplastics. As part of the largest health network in Victoria, the ophthalmic cases are often associated with complex medical problems.
Our mission is to deliver quality, patient-centred care that meets the needs of our diverse community. You will have appropriate qualifications, registration and professional experience, preferably being able to perform routine cataract surgery independently. Our team provides an innovative and positive team-based culture, where you will be able to work independently, while still being part of a multidisciplinary team focussed on patient care and efficient service provision.
