About the Role | Occupational Therapist, Grade 2 (Full time, Fixed Term - maternity leave position until August 2026)

This is a unique opportunity to join the Monash Children’s Health and Wellbeing Local, a first-of-its-kind, co-designed service delivering integrated mental health, health and wellbeing care for children aged 0–11 years and their families.

As a Grade 2 Occupational Therapist within the Mental Health team, you will provide specialist assessment, consultation and treatment to infants and children experiencing mental health and occupational functioning challenges. Your role will include discipline-specific assessment, formulation, intervention planning and reporting, with a strong focus on sensory processing, motor development and functional participation.

This role is centrally based in Cranbourne, with spoke sites across Dandenong, Casey and Cardinia, and sits within a newly established transdisciplinary/multidisciplinary model of care. Funded training opportunities are available, including family-centred practice, trauma-informed care and specialist assessments, supporting both service innovation and your professional growth.

About Us

“It's a chance for us to change the system and do things differently to make measurable change in children's lives.  It will allow us to work together, innovatively, to improve the health and wellbeing of children and families” Victoria McKay

Monash Children’s Health and Wellbeing Local (Monash Children’s Local) is an innovative, interdisciplinary, one-stop service designed to improve the health and wellbeing of children and families across Melbourne’s south-east.

Led by Monash Health, the service brings together community health, mental health and family support services, providing early intervention, assessment and treatment for children and their families in a welcoming, accessible setting. Families can access a range of specialist medical and allied health services, including paediatricians, occupational therapists, psychologists and speech pathologists, alongside parenting and family supports.

The Monash Children’s Local sits alongside Early in Life Mental Health Service (ELMHS), Monash Children’s and the Child and Family Program, and has been co-designed with local communities, people with lived experience and Aboriginal Controlled Community Organisations. This collaborative approach ensures services are responsive, culturally safe and tailored to local needs.

As a truly innovative model of care, the Monash Children’s Local represents a significant shift in how services are delivered — focused on early intervention, integration and measurable outcomes for children and families.
