About the Role
As a Security Officer, you will deliver a high-quality, responsive and customer-focused security service across all main hospital sites and select large community-based sites. This includes ensuring physical safety, protecting hospital property, responding to emergencies, and supporting efficient traffic and parking management. Our high quality security service is responsible to not only provide patients, visitors, staff with an environment which affords individual physical safety, and also the safeguarding of Monash Health property and emergency responses.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Responding rapidly and professionally to all emergency calls, including duress, fire and other critical alarms.
- Supporting hospital staff during incidents involving aggression or violence, including applying restraints and participating in Code Grey responses.
- Operating and monitoring CCTV systems and safeguarding patient valuables.
- Providing patrol and escort services, managing car park access, and serving parking infringement notices.
- Assisting with mortuary duties, including body releases.
- Issuing and managing ID and access cards, and performing site lock-ups and unlocks.
- Maintaining detailed knowledge of hospital layouts to assist with rapid response.
- Upholding Monash Health's values in every interaction.
About You
You are a reliable and professional team player with a strong work ethic and a calm, empathetic approach to conflict resolution. You understand the unique challenges of working in a healthcare environment and bring a customer service mindset to every situation.
You will also bring:

- Knowledge of conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques.
- A commitment to following procedures, policies and safety protocols.
- Physical fitness and the ability to respond quickly to urgent situations.
Security experience in a healthcare or high-demand environment is highly regarded.
Some of the things we’d like to see on your application include:
· Previous experience as a Security Officer (ideally within a hospital/health setting)
· Code (black, grey etc) response participation requirements
· Demonstrated knowledge of current emergency response including the operation of fire panels, OWS and EWIS panels
· Proven ability to negotiate and resolve conflict situations
· Your commitment to provide Superior customer service to all stakeholders makes you a desirable candidate, capable of working independently or as part of a team; and
· Intermediate verbal and written communication skills to enable you to prepare incident and other reports to meet Police and legal requirements.
To be successful in obtaining this role, you will need to have:
· Current Victorian Security Guard and Crowd Controller Licence
· Certificate III in Security Operations Unarmed Guarding and Crowd Control OR Certificate II – Unarmed Guard and Crowd Control
· Current Working with Children’s Check (or application in progress)
· Current open or provisional Victorian Drivers Licence
