About the Role
Administration and Research Assistant - Adult Mental Health Services, Mental Health Forensic Assessment and Consultation Team
This position offers a unique chance to contribute to a highly specialised team operating at the intersection of mental health and public safety. In this role, you will provide essential administrative support while assisting with research and evaluation activities that inform service delivery and quality improvement. Working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, you will help advance processes that enhance care and outcomes for individuals requiring forensic mental health support. This role involves supporting the ongoing operation of the program, contributing to the design and implementation of the unit’s processes and pathways (including quality improvement), preparing ethics applications, managing data collection and evaluation, producing documents, and assisting with knowledge transfer and exchange.
Join our team as a Administration and Research Assistant working at a new Community Mental Health site in Dandenong, on a Full Time Ongoing basis.
The role includes:
- Research responsibilities: Collect, enter, verify, and analyse qualitative and quantitative data; conduct literature reviews; contribute to document preparation (protocols, reports, ethics and journal submissions, conference papers); and maintain accurate research records and secure databases (CMI, iPM, Excel).
- Administrative responsibilities: Provide operational support through scheduling, diary management, minute-taking, procurement, maintaining office and clinical systems, and coordinating education and training activities.
- Process and program support: Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of unit processes, pathways, and administrative systems to ensure efficient program functioning.
- Communication and coordination: Maintain regular communication with clinical and operational leads, support multidisciplinary meetings, and participate in broader administrative, research, and evaluation activities as required.
About You
To ensure your success in this role you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge:

Strong research capability, including qualitative and quantitative data collection, data entry, verification, and analysis, with familiarity in research and experimental design

Combined administrative and research competence, with experience coordinating processes, maintaining accurate records, managing confidential files, and supporting research pathways.

Well-developed analytical, problem-solving, and evaluation skills, including the ability to manage competing demands and work under pressure.

High-level organisational skills, covering meeting coordination, minute-taking, diary management, procurement, document preparation, and maintenance of research and clinical databases (e.g., CMI, iPM, Excel).

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with regular liaison across operational and clinical teams and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Advanced digital proficiency, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), data analysis software (e.g., SPSS), and the ability to learn new systems as required.
