About the Acute Assessment Unit (AAU) at Dandenong Hospital  

AAU is a General Surgical Unit with medical outliers, comprised of 16- 24 inpatient beds. We are one of a number of units, which had previously lead a Ward Governance structure: a system to optimise care outcomes for our patients by collaborating with specialised disciplines to meet the clients’ health goals. Under this model of care, we recognise and encourage all team members to engage in innovative activities to improve the patient experience. In line with this, clerical team member will be encouraged to communicate in harmony with the consumer, Nursing, Medical, Allied Health and Pharmacy team members.  

 

About the Role  

We are looking for a clerical team member who works under the supervision and delegation of the Nurse Manager. The Clerical team member is responsible for maintaining excellent service delivery by improving the patient experience. The role is responsible for but not limited to:  

  • Management of patient information  

  • Booking outpatient appointments  

  • Ordering and management of medical/surgical consumables for the unit;  

  • Booking patient transport.  

  • Building strong consumer relationships  

  • Collaborating with the Multi-disciplinary team.  

  • Managing and ordering stock 

  • Orientating patients to ward 

 

About You  

Are you a Clerical staff member wanting to work in a dynamic and supportive team; focused on delivering quality care? Displaying a positive mindset to deliver patient centred care, you are a person who is focused on seeking opportunities to improve the patient experience through your capability framework.  

What you need:  

  • Previous experience in working with Health Informatics  

  • Completed medical terminology course/ Certificate 4 in Health Administration  

  • Current experience working within the acute hospital environment.
