About the Role
Unit 1 is looking for experienced Mental Health nurse for this role as an Associate Nurse Unit Manager. We are looking for someone with a passion for providing recovery focused, patient centred care to our consumers during an acute or severe phase of Mental illness.
In this role as a Associate Nurse Unit Manager you will work with adult inpatient consumers with varying degrees of acute psychiatric or mental illness and/or drug and alcohol dependency problems. You will be a recognised member of the psychiatric care team, and at any time you would be providing primary nursing care to patients in a case management model, while also supporting other members of the nursing team.
Full-Time or Part-Time permanent position available, 7-day rotating rosters across all shifts
About Us
Unit 1 at Monash Health Dandenong is a 25 Bed inpatient unit which sits within the Dandenong Adult Mental Health Service under the Mental Health Program. The service provides care to consumers aged between 25-65 who require short-term inpatient management and treatment during an acute phase of mental illness. Situated in Dandenong, Unit 1 services a culturally diverse population. The multidisciplinary team work with consumers to provide a range of therapeutic interventions and programs, whilst also working collaboratively with families and carers to provide education and guidance on how to best support consumers during their recovery.
About You
As a motivated and experienced Psychiatric Nurse, you possess a patient-centred approach and demonstrate a commitment to recovery focused care. You are an innovative thinker and are always looking for ways to improve service delivery. You can also demonstrate a keen understanding of the Mental Health & Wellbeing Act (2022) as it relates to delivering holistic patient care.
What You Need
- Evidence of commitment to working in Mental Health - Post Graduate Qualification in Mental Health as outlined in the position description
- Demonstrated experience within an Inpatient Unit or similar
About the Mental Health Program at Monash Health
Monash Health Mental Health Services provides a range of community, bed-based and specialist services covering the Casey, Cardinia, Greater Dandenong, Kingston and Monash LGAs – a population of nearly one million. It has an operational budget of $130 million and employs approximately 820 EFT, representing over 1000 staff. The Program has a number of clinical units including three adult units (Casey, Dandenong and Clayton), an Early in Life Mental Health Service (comprising Perinatal & infant, child, and adolescent services), Young Persons’ Mental Health Service, Psychology and Specialist Services (PsySS), Drug & Alcohol service and Gender Dysphoria Clinic. Southern Synergy supports the Mental Health Programs with specialist research innovations. The program has five PARCS (Prevention and Recovery Care Services) which includes a specialist Women’s only PARCS, an Extended Care PARCS and Youth PARCS, and two Community Care Units providing community mental health recovery and psychosocial rehabilitation for consumer. The clinical service is supported by an aligned operational structure to enable the provision of high quality service through the creation of clinical-operational partnerships to support staff, patients, carers and their families, and a strong professional structure that supports the governance of health professional workforce.
