Exciting opportunity to join the nursing leasdership team in the Acute Assessment Unit.

About the Role:

Join our team as an Associate Nurse Manager in a full-time or part-time  ongoing position to work in the Acute Assessment Unit at Dandenong Hospital.

This opportunity is available working up to 76 hours a fortnight.  Part-time and permenant night applicatons are welcomed. 

We are seeking an experienced clinical leader wishing to develop into an Associate Nurse Manager (ANM) role. You should have a focus on the clinical development of staff, improving the patient experience and being open to innovative and collaborative ideas.

Reporting to the Nurse Manager, the ANM will develop themselves as a leader; being responsible for the clinical and operational outcomes of patients and staff alike. The ANM will proactively contribute to our vision of “exceptional care, outstanding outcomes”.

With proven communication and employee management skills, the ANM will be responsible for rostering, and maintaining a safe skill mix according to the Safe Patient Act and is expected to be a proactive leader in quality and safety; taking on a portfolio to improve our service and action any gaps in accordance with the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHS).

You will engage in activities to service career progression; taking on professional development opportunities and theoretical studies.

You will also be responsible for ensuring staff and undergraduates are working within their Scope of Practice; developing those who will be responsible for the management of high acuity care.

Ensuring timely discharge planning and facilitating the consumer’s safe and effective transition from hospital to home by way of referral to appropriate health resources and services is a high priority within our unit. 

About Us:

AAU is a General Surgical Unit with medical outliers. AAU services 16 beds, admitting patients with, but not limited to general plastic, orthopaedic, colorectal and general surgeries. These patients are projected to have a 24-72hrs stay following assessment and treatment. Further admitted days may result in intra-ward transfers for ongoing care. We are a small, cohesive, dedicated team who strive to provide our patient with high qulaity, safe and timely care. 

About You:

You might currently be an accomplished ANM looking for a new unit, developing your management and leadership skills, or  someone seeking an opportunity to step up to ANM role. This role will see you liaising with a wide set of stakeholders, both internally and with our external referral partners, so the ability to build strong relationships will be central to your success.

  • You lead by example and thrive working in a dynamic, fast paced environment where you are truly passionate about delivering a high standard of evidence-based practice to all patients
  • You communicate clearly and effectively and are able to build rapport and engage with others at all levels to deliver outcomes in a timely manner 
  • You are an advocate of Monash Health’s Strategic Guiding Principles and consistently demonstrate our values.
  • You also thrive on continuous improvement and are ideally working towards a Post Graduate Certificate, Diploma or Master of Clinical Management.
  • Proven recent clinical experience in an acute hospital unit, with a strong prefeence for surgical experience. 
  • Demonstrated clinical leadership in a hospital setting
  • A willingness to learn & grow your leadership capabilities through a commitment to a portfolio
