About the Role
Dandenong Hospital’s Emergency Department (ED) is one of the busiest in the region, managing approximately 70,000 emergency presentations annually across adult and paediatric patients. With 35 main cubicles, 20 short stay beds, four resuscitation cubicles, decontamination facilities, and dedicated mental health and isolation rooms, our ED is a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Clerical Team Leader to oversee the clerical operations of the department. This pivotal role ensures the smooth running of administrative functions, supports staff development, and contributes to continuous improvement in patient flow and data accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support clerical staff across the Emergency Department
- Manage recruitment, onboarding, training, and rostering of clerical team members
- Produce, analyse, and correct reports related to patient presentations and admissions
- Implement and monitor process improvements to enhance clerical efficiency
- Maintain stock levels of stationery, office supplies, and kitchen requisites
- Ensure work areas are well-presented and maintained to a high standard
- Assist with general clerical duties as required within the department
- Maintain up-to-date clerical communication tools and documentation
- Promote a culture of safety, consultation, and accountability in line with Monash Health procedures
- Empower staff to take ownership and deliver outstanding outcomes
About You
- Essential: Previous administrative experience in an Emergency Department setting
- Desirable: Experience in administrative management or team leadership
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, multidisciplinary environment
- Commitment to continuous improvement and staff development
