About the Role   

The Mental Health Program is seeking enthusiastic, qualified and motivated Registered Psychiatric Nurses for a part time temporary role for 6 months as a Clinical Nurse Consultant within the Mental Health Program. The role will be situated at Dandenong Hospital on Unit 2 working 4 days a week. The successful applicant will work in collaboration with the Nurse Managers and Nurse Educator,  

  • to  implement the  Mental Health Intensive Care Framework, drive and sustain Safewards.  

  • to contribute towards further development and enhancement of our specialist nursing workforce by providing clinical support, mentoring and coaching, to build skills and advance clinical practice, specialised in mental health nursing.   

  • to identify work towards development of priority issues to address contemporary mental health nursing practice on the inpatient units to best support vulnerable consumers presenting with complex care needs.   

 

About You:   

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia   

  • Post Graduate qualification in mental Health Nursing  

  • Minimum 5 years of experience of working in an Acute Adult Psychiatric Settings, following obtaining a post graduate diploma in Mental Helath Nursing.   

  • Clinical leadership expertise in acute mental health nursing, are passionate about best practice standards and excellence in patient care standards especially working towards reducing restrictive practices  

  • Ability to lead quality initiatives, work independently, and have digital capabilities  

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, with capability to negotiate, consult, and liaise effectively with key stakeholders   

  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills to effectively analyse and address complex problems   

  • Collaborates effectively and fosters teamwork to achieve collective goals   

  • Proven capacity to learn new concepts and promptly apply feedback to improve performance and desired outcomes
